Get Grounded is not about punishing kids for acting out. It is about giving them what they need so they never have to act out in the first place.
When a child feels safe, seen, and emotionally steady, they can show up for others. They can be the one who sits next to someone alone at lunch. The one who pulls out a chair. The one who hands someone an apple and says: you're not eating by yourself today.
That is Kindness in Action. That is what Harper's Helpers has always been about. And this fall, Get Grounded is putting resources behind the organizations making it happen.
Loneliness activates the same pathways as
physical pain.
WHY IT MATTERS
When a child feels excluded, their brain registers it the same way it registers a scraped knee. It is not in their head. It is in their body. And when someone chooses them, that changes too. Their nervous system settles. They can think. They can give.

No One Eats AloneFounded by parents who lost children at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. They chose to build something. Their No One Eats Alone program trains student leaders to turn middle school lunchrooms into places where no child sits alone. Student-led. Evidence-based. Free for schools.
